                                 The Double Door

                         You allowed me

To enter your world for a moment

                         I am grateful for that.

                         When our paths diverged

                         You went your way

Mine, well traveled, was more secure

                         I accepted that.

I know how sincere was your intent

This dream that consumed your years

I cannot blame you for that,

But the dream became your prison,

The prison had a double door

It shut you in and locked me out

Made us both the lesser for it.

Let us grieve, my dear friend, for that.
