                                  Revisited

                         Lights of the city square

                         bounce off incandescent lamped pavements

sprinkle the gold dust on the streets

                         night of the hot breath

                         expels it vapors

                         on the taproom window

we sit expressionless with one drink

strangers in a smoke filled room

                         True love

a year away from the academy

                         hurries past neon lit ships

yellow windows with a fixed smile

farewell is the belly stoved waiting room

a railroad station in a small town

                         Rounds of parties

                         fade into the dawn

                         faces of friends

                         mirrored in the glasses

                         of the cocktail hour

We turn away from the night

the insistent mockery of the dream

my brothers  the heaven is bare
