                                    As if

(We liv                  (We live as if we are immortal-Wm. James)

                         Peculiar to the ocean

the tide reflects its own enigma

                         countless souls

                         cruise along infinities of space

                         within the numberless galaxies

                         each uniquely to itself

                         as if they count

                         as if they matter

                         Precisely then before the storm

                         clouds roll across the heavens

                         in a burst of energy

                         tells us of a possibility

of a purpose that must be felt

                         then abruptly as before

                         the storm subsides

                         to fulfill a sudden shift

                         broken shells line the sands

as if there is a design

as if there is a purpose

                         After sending a mini rainbow

the sun recede behind my shoulder

                         a deepening shadow falls

                         as if my own

                         or that of a stranger?

this personal God thinks only of me

                         together we cradle our opposites

we live as if we will never die

We pray as if there is a God
