                                      One Moment

A moment gone is one moment less

still  we have time to wonder why

it is better to be shrewd

better to hurt and not be hurt

perhaps to win and not to lose

or speak in a loud clear voice

                         when the mind is empty

                         and the soul is sick

                         than whisper the ultimate truth

Soon  the heart ticks to each beat

                         Camouflaged by little tricks

listens to what we want to hear

sees what we want to see

                         no longer wonders any more

why sham is better than the truth

                         smiles can cover cant

why we hate and sometimes kill

as we dream the innocent dream

So  every morning brush the teeth

drink your beer  the one that's light

                         a heartbeat away

one moment more  one moment less
