Man Alone
The sun glories in what it does
carnivore consume
in nature's pursuit
only man
assume a posture
to cover his guilt
Salmon leap backward
across torrents to spawn
lemmings find fate in genocide
only man
mimics a smile
to conceal the fraud
Plants turn to the sun
sweet in their grace
mammals of the sea
forge a greater bond
only man
builds a tale
to seduce the truth
Herbivore graze upon the land
look up with eyes
that are friendly and kind
but righteous to the last
only man
will practice immolation
on a pyre self induced
